The Curriculum
The school is the curriculum
There is no single curriculum that will fit every student in any class. There has to be a sound framework for a curriculum, but the content of the curriculum is relatively less important compared to the process of learning. Our school curriculum is the result of consulting many curricula around the world. It is based on the Diploma Programme of the International Baccalaureate (IBDP), taking into consideration the needs of Hong Kong students. One unique feature of our curriculum is its flexibility, since it is designed to meet the needs of students of different abilities. This is a very forward-looking school, which adopts a forward-looking curriculum. In other words, our curriculum speaks for our school, reflecting its strengths.
In pursuit of excellence
To implement all-round education and bilingualism, and nurture talent successfully, the design of the curriculum together with the school management system, and teaching strategies must work together to complement each other.
In addition, a balance must be struck between practice and theory when designing a curriculum.
A through-train curriculum
A “through-train” system provides the school with a high degree of autonomy and flexibility. It also enables the school to gain a better understanding of its students and to plan more effectively, avoiding repetition of certain parts of the curriculum. Teachers can ensure continuity of curriculum between primary and secondary schools and data can be transferred efficiently.
The IGCSE Programme
Cambridge IGCSE is the world’s most popular international qualification for 14 to 16 year olds. It offers a variety of routes for learners with a wide range of abilities and helps to improve their performance by developing skills in creative thinking, enquiry and problem solving. In our school, Chinese, English, International Mathematics and Global Perspectives are offered as part of Core subjects. Students are required to choose 6 Option subjects from the various groups.
