Biking

In all of my years living in Hong Kong, I have rarely been to rural areas, and this trip offered me an opportunity to enjoy the fresh air outdoors while having fun on the bike. The best part of this trip is enjoying the bumpy and steep roads on the bike. I never imagined that it would be possible for me to bike on mountain roads, and this has been a dream come true for me.

At first, riding on uneven mountain roads was a painful struggle, because it was very difficult to control and most of all, the fear of falling was my biggest enemy. However, when I decided to face the challenge and reach out of my comfort zone, riding over obstacles was actually not a fearful thing to do, in fact I started enjoying the confidence and satisfaction that it gave me. Nonetheless, this trip is tough indeed, because an extreme amount of energy and focus have to be put in. Since the speed of biking is rapid, the chances of making mistakes and crashing are very high. I was always cautious during the trip, but no matter how careful I was, crashes and falls were unavoidable. Therefore, it was very important that I learn from my falls. The more I fell, the more I was able to learn from it and become a more confident mountain biker.

Biking is like our life journey, where uphills, downhills and obstacles are inevitable. So we must learn to strive on an uphill, brake during a downhill and most importantly be experienced in overcoming obstacles.

Overall, it was an unforgettable experience. I have developed new skills on biking, while at the same time, understanding more about myself. And I would like to recommend future students who are interested in sports to join this trip.
